There was a documentary done on the “Gully Queens" and their means of living done either earlier this year, or last year. I watched it, and it just solidified what I already knew about the country my mother and father are from.

So when word got to me about the one this photo set comes from I promised myself I wouldn’t watch it because it’s a reality I didn’t want to face again. But it was on my dash, and decided to press play. This is what life is like in Jamaica for LGBTQ people. This is what law enforcement (who is supposed to protect the people feels lesbian & bisexual women need).

In the documentary they also bring up the story about the mob who surrounded the store that the man who was seen putting lipstick on, and another who was shot and killed for dressing in drag. It’s a very dangerous thing being queer and living in the west indies.

That third gif also sums up the reason why so many queer women in fiction get treated like shit and why we barely get acknowledged as existing at all

These pathetic excuses for writers have no idea how to write a woman who doesn’t want to fuck a man
